From Concept to Reality

Last week March 17, 2009

It is the last week of the project, sure we got the hand in date pushed forward until next week but I’m going for a hand in later this week so I’m free from the project. Tomorrow we shall present our projects, I’m going to present my result, Echo, and posted my presentations to AK yesterday. I might fix them a little bit, maybe add a picture or two but else I think I let them be and should probably go through the design document today so I know what to say tomorrow.

Else, there is a lot of organizing work to do at the moment, trying to summarize all the files and documents into something that can be read and easily navigated but at the moment it is pretty much a small mess but its getting clearer and I think it won’t be any problems when I’m done. The only problem is probably the hand in since it will be a quite large file that I have to send in.

It feels pretty good though, I know my game so the presentation shouldn’t be any problem and I’m sure the hand in will go just fine as well. I just have to make the final effort and then I’m done. That’s it for today I guess, have a nice day!

Project Plan & Mentor February 6, 2009

Today have been spent working on the project plan which I just recently attached to a mail to AK and send it away. I hope, as everybody else, that I get it approved and that I don’t have to redo anything but I think it will be cool, might be some small things that I need to change on but nothing major.

I today got the final answer from my mentor and he is on the project. His name is Ted and we have had him as a teacher in Interactive storytelling last year and also for a week in a creativity course in the beginning of this school year.

I have redone the blog a bit, I renamed it to From concept to Reality which is the project name now. I also changed theme to a brighter one so that those who actually read my posts don’t get to depressed since they might spend a bit of time on the blog.

Now I’m off to play some games but have a nice weekend and see you next week.

Reel of words January 27, 2009

Todays idea technique became Stream of Consciousness.  The techique works as following, sit down infront of the computer or with a pen and paper and then write as much as you can think of for ten minutes. Then you look thru your words and see if you can make up any nice game concepts by combining words or if you get any inspiration from single words.

I wrote for approximatly ten minutes and came up with 160 words, not a great amount of words for ten minutes but I could just do it again if I would be missing some ideas. I then started to check thru the list and found a couple of nice ideas, some that haven’t been done that I know of but that doesn’t mean they are great ideas, it could be the other way around, no one have made them because they are such bad ideas.

Todays ideas might have gotten a bit spaced out, mainly because I have been listening to Björk while at the computer but that works as well. I am up at 62 game ideas with 13 new ones since yesteday. Have 1/3 left kinda but I also got a couple of days left of this week, its only Tuesday today which means that the week only have started.

I am planning on a blog post that describes a bit more of what I got for rules for the ideas, what ideas that isn’t allowed on my lists and such but you just have to wait for that post a bit longer. I think I shall try and prepare some idea cards today so that I can start early tomorrow with the project work.
